I'm back, here is what happened

WHAT A YEAR!!! Back in January 2023 I was too lazy to update my server with latest patches and upgrades. Some smart-ass profited from my blunder and exploited the DB, installing a crypto miner on my server. My host provider immediately noticed the spike in activity from my machine and dropped it off-line. Due to a lack of communication between me and my provider, neither of us had a good backup to restore the server. I went through all the 5 stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. It took a long time, but finally, thanks to the invaluable help of LUCA SACCHI (master sys-admin and all-round good guy), we were able to recover an image of the VM, recover the wiki and put it on a new VM. All images and files got recovered as well, and correctly linked to their referencing pages. Only the OLD WEBSITE was not recovered, but I still had all the relevant info and files; I have spent a number of weeks going through every page of the OLD WEBSITE and making a new page for it here on the WIKI. It took a lot of time, because I had to write a large number of new pages for devices and CPUs that I had not yet covered, but we are finally there! ENJOY!

Not much news lately, but a lot of work has been done documenting Naomi, Chihiro and Triforce games. And many more small corrections and integrations will come in the next few weeks. BTW I discovered that a number of Naomi games have the build date (year,month,day,hour,minute,second) in the main EPROM, so I will update dates accordingly. Also I've been experimenting with a new CCD scanner to get better pictures of PCBs, because a good quality picture can be of help in correct emulation from MAMEDEVs. A good example of this is Cat and Mouse (type 02 program), where the correct banking for sprites was derived directly from the PCB picture, as well as correct colours.

The good news:
I have 10+ unemulated PCBs here, waiting for my care.
There is people who want to lend me their boards for dumping.
There are DEVs asking for more infos on the boards I have to properly emulate them.
There are fellow hardware enthusiasts offering their help.
The scene is well alive and kicking.

The bad news:
I have an extremely demanding job; expecially in this season of the year.
I'm travelling abroad more then I'm staying home; and when I'm home I have a family I love and care for.
The net result is that the time left for my hobby (emulation and dumping) is basically nothing.
Updates are coming in very slowly; new dumps are lagging back; tens of email are still unread and unanswered.

Please be patiente. I will take care of everything, but it will require a lot of time before I get back to my usual pace.

Dopo 24 ore di downtime/errori, grazie al solito prezioso aiuto di S_Bastian, il sito ritorna online in tutto il suo splendore!!! ;)

Molte schede presentano ancora degli errori (invece dei link agli extrafile), e' un problema di database, e devo entrare in ogni singola scheda a mettere in ordine le cose, ci vorra' un poco di tempo.

Grazie all'aiuto prezioso di S_Bastian, faro' una serie di modifiche al database delle schede; queste modifiche porteranno ben poche novita' a voi visitatori, ma renderanno a me la vita molto piu' facile nella manutenzione del database stesso.
